Presented to the delegation of the Volgograd City Council during a visit to Coventry, January 1964

The words are written in Gothic ink: “The Lord mayor, city councilors, and residents of the city of Coventry firmly believe that the bonds of friendship between cities of different countries, regardless of skin color, race, religion, or political system, can make a significant contribution to mutual understanding and good will, which in itself is a solid foundation for international peace. Thus, they proclaim the friendship between Coventry and Volgograd and undertake to strengthen in every possible way the friendly ties between the residents of these two cities. Emily Allen, the Lord mayor of Coventry / Charles Barrett, the city secretary”
