The profile portrait is turned to the left. The reverse is covered with an inscription, which reads: “Guerra di liberazione Nazionale”, along the edges and, “Brigate Garibaldi”, in the centre; at the bottom one reads the date “1943 – 1945” (The National Liberation War / Garibaldi Brigades). All the inscriptions are relief. The top point of the medal has an eye for the ring, through which one may pull a ribbon.
