The sculpture group by Fritz Cremer is made as a bas-relief at the Buchenwald memorial. The prisoners of the camp are shown at the time of the uprising. With the help of illegally obtained weapons, some prisoners freed themselves and prevented mass murder. The sculpture group is located in front of the Liberation Tower and together they mark the focal point of the entire memorial. The TM ‘Meißen’ logo is pressed on the back of the plaque leaving an impression of two swords being crossed. Right under the logo there is a ‘Böttgersteinzeug’ stamp (brown and red ceramic), a T letter symbolizing the year of 1958 and ‘238’, the serial number of the product. The plaque is put in a case covered with blue buckram on the outside and white velvet and silk on the inside.
