In 1947 the American Birobidzhan Committee (“Ambidjan”) launched a charity campaign. Each lined sheet of paper contains the names and addresses of donators with the indication of their contributions. 4,570 American children put their signatures and contributed the total of USD 8,854 to the orphan asylum “Silver Ponds”. The signed sheets are kept in specially designated holders.

With an image of a knight, a “NKSF, Conuv” sign and an inscription on the edge: “Hilsen Fra Norges Krigsseilerforbund / Juli – 1972”.

A wooden box with a flap lid and a metal hinge for a padlock. Side walls of the chest are decorated with children’s oil paintings of the New York City views and ships. The chest was made for transportation and storage of the children’s books selected by American boys and girls for young Stalingraders.
